Position Summary
Arkansas Arts Academy is seeking a passionate and engaging Middle School Social Studies Teacher to join our dynamic team for the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore history, geography, civics, and culture through innovative instruction and meaningful connections to the arts.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver standards-based social studies instruction aligned with Arkansas state frameworks
- Create engaging, student-centered lessons that integrate the arts when possible
- Foster critical thinking, discussion, and inquiry-based learning
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and school initiatives
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
- Participate in school events, professional development, and faculty meetings
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies, Education, or related field (required)
- Valid Arkansas teaching license (or ability to obtain) with appropriate certification
- Middle school teaching experience preferred
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Passion for arts integration and innovative teaching practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in project-based or interdisciplinary learning
- Familiarity with diverse learners and differentiated instruction
- Interest in incorporating visual or performing arts into curriculum
